This illustration was part of an article on mobile etiquette and relationships in the digital age. This is a popular topic and I’ve worked previously on similar concepts.

 

I think we’ve all seen couple in public together who are separated by technology, so I came up with the idea of an argument that was silent except for furious tapping. The idea of expressing oneself in text, caps, emojis, etc. inspired me to add text elements to let the reader in on what was happening.

 

I had fun with the character colors, over a pleasing background, and used an orange chair as balance…that ended up being my favorite element!

 

This is a modern twist of my hand-drawn vintage style. I also work in modern vector styles and animation. Take a look and let me know what you think.
